Dealing With Multiple Personality Disorder

This page is for a discussion on dealing with D.I.D. or M.P.D.  Feel free to post questions or comments. I am not an expert on this subject and would like to learn more.
M.P.D. is not the same as schizophrenia, and the treatment is different. People who have M.P.D. usually have had severe trauma as a child. A defense mechanism to help them cope through the trauma, M.P.D. brings about different personalities (alters) that show up in adult life and can make it hard for people to function in a real world.
If you have M.P.D., or know someone who has multiple personalities, there is hope. We are discussing ways to help people work through this, and to not have to live in such a way that their life is hampered by this condition.
It is with this hope in mind, that this page is being created. Don't be afraid to ask for help. But make sure you are getting help from the right sources.
